Does you mailing list focus on a geographic area or historical event?  Consider allowing MESSEAR to search the emails from your list.  You can add your list to MESSEAR using the form below. (Rootsweb owners click here for instructions)  Here are several benefits to adding your list to MESSEAR

Suddenly add hundreds of people who can see your content.  Although these people will not see ever message and are considered lurkers, you may start discussing a thread that will peak their interest.
Some lurkers may find your list to be valuable to them and subscribe.   Subscriptions occur because of valuable information found through MESSEAR.
Additional exposure of your list through the List of Mailing Lists.
The messages from your list are not archived. 
No one can send a message to your list unless they are subscribed to it.  A subscription to MESSEAR does not allow them to send a message to your list.
Your hosting service, like Rootsweb or Yahoogroups, receives many additional views of the ads they place in your messages.

This is the address where you send messages to be distributed to the entire list, like indiana@yahoogroups.com.

Adding MESSEAR to a Rootsweb list

You need to go to the utilities page for your list.  Find the section that says Subscribe.  Subscribe the address messear in 2 @ edelsoft.net (without the spaces) to your list.
