Frequently Asked Questions about MESSEAR
When I make a change, MESSEAR says I am not subscribed.
This usually occurs when you subscribed with a different version of your email address.
For example, if you subscribed using johndoe@aserver.hotmail.com, then you must use
that address not johndoe@hotmail.com. If
you do not remember what address you subscribed, it is listed at the top of each search
result message you receive.
I have trouble finding my search words in my search results.
You can search the message for the characters "-^" (without the ").
Most email readers will let you search a message by pressing Ctrl-F or clicking on
binoculars in the toolbar.
I like MESSEAR and want to help out.
MESSEAR is a free service. However, there are several ways that you can help keep
it free.
 | Contribute to free genealogy. Genealogy does not just happen.
You can contribute by sharing data your have, joining and participating in a
mailing list, volunteering to do lookups, or hosting a GenWeb county. |
 | Encourage list owners to join MESSEAR. Ask list owners of mailing
lists that focus on geographic areas or historical events to visit www.edelsoft.net/messear/listown.htm. |
 | Support Rootsweb. Rootsweb is one of the top genealogy
sites. They have a ton of genealogy information. They are also dedicated to
making it available for free. Some of the mailing lists MESSEAR searches are from
Rootsweb. Discover all the advantages of supporting Rootsweb at www.rootsweb.com/rootsweb/how-to-subscribe.html.
|
 | Search the web using Mamma. The web is a big place. Mamma
sends your request to several major search engines and gives you the results. Make www.edelsoft.net/mamma.htm
your place to search the web. |
