In the first plot by the house, we usually planted 3 tomatoe plants and a zuchini in this space for several years, but we only got a couple zuchini and a handful of tomatos. So in 1998, I added the second plot along the fence which is 15 feet wide and 2.5 feet deep. That year we grew tomatoes in the plot next to the house with zuchini and pole beans in the fence plot. We planted 5 tomatoe plants, 2 zuchini, and 5 hills of beans. I ran two strands of twine from each bean hill to the top of the fence(about 5 foot high) for the bean plants to run up. |
